PHILOSOPHY

As a journalist, I need to be realistic in my world view. But, beneath the surface beats the heart of an optimist. That's why I prefer to stories of triumph over stories of tragedy. It's also why I enjoy covering weddings.

As a photojournalist, I am also obligated to cover whatever stories my editors deem newsworthy. Too often, I find myself on stories that reveal the uglier side of the human experience - stories most of us would rather ignore. But, difficult as they can be, those stories and photographs are valid and important, if for no other reason than to remind us to value the things that bring joy into our lives.

I earn a living presenting my observations of life – for better or worse – in an honest, memorable way. I love what I do and give every assignment my complete attention because I know that, whether I'm photographing a wedding or a news event, it is always important to someone.
